The high efficiency drive system for materials handling

In many sectors, such as the automotive, food and beverage industries, airport logistics or general intralogistics, the demands on materials handling systems are becoming both more complex and more specific. At the same time, less installation space is available for meeting these demands. As a result, SEW-Eurodrive decided to research and develop an optimum application solution to suit these criteria. The result is the MOVIGEAR mechatronic drive system. It has a favourable, compact design and is ideal for planning efficient materials handling systems.

The housing has been optimised specifically for these types of applications and can easily be integrated in conveyor systems. It also enables new developments to be implemented from a completely new perspective. This technology masters high breakaway and acceleration torque after longer system idling time without any limitations. The power required to drive the system can be reduced significantly.

SEW-Eurodrive says MOVIGEAR is the next logical step in the development of the economic and technically successful concept of the decentralised drive system. A systematic development approach was taken right from the design phase to deliver a high level of system efficiency, which in turn helps to lower the energy costs. The integration and coordination of all the drive components leads to a long service life and high system availability.

SEW-Eurodrive describes its MOVIGEAR as an intelligent device with its own control concept. Its high-quality networking features help reduce the startup time and support the monitoring and maintenance tasks. When combined with a functional user software, drive tasks can be solved as quickly and easily as possible.

The compact design places the motor, gear unit and electronics in a single mechatronic drive system, with two sizes offering outputs of up to 200Nm and 400Nm. The casework provides a high degree of protection, and meets hygiene requirements for the food and beverage industries.
