Investment in people recognised at Norgren companies

IMI Webber Ltd, which delivers Engineering Advantage through a range of innovative pneumatics products primarily for the commercial vehicle, food & beverage and rail sectors, was awarded the Gold standard, which is held by just 3.2 per cent of organisations in the UK. The company, which employs 150 people and is located in Bristol, achieved its Gold Award after meeting all 196 criteria against which it was assessed. Webber is the first IMI Group company to achieve the Gold Award overall.

Watson Smith, which employs 50 people in the production of high-performance pneumatic instruments and technologies at its Leeds facility, achieved its award in impressive fashion, opting to bypass the standard award and be assessed directly for Bronze. The timing of the award was right for the assembly company, who had recently launched a new business strategy. The award was used as a platform to test the new corporate strategy against a robust, external framework.

Claire Kennady, HR Advisor at Watson Smith, states: "To go straight for the Bronze Award and achieve the standard is a great accomplishment. Going for Silver, and eventually Gold awards is certainly something that we will be looking at for the future."
