Gems offers new capacitive, non-contact level sensor CAP-100

Gems Sensors and Controls is launching the CAP-100, a compact, capacitive level sensor that is easy to mount and calibrate, offering an efficient and convenient level-sensing option.

Gems offers new capacitive, non-contact level sensor CAP-100

The new CAP-100 Series Capacitive Liquid Level Sensors provide accurate level sensing through the walls of a wide variety of bottle types, including plastic, glass and fibreglass. These compact sensors are suited for applications such as waste, reagent, buffer or diluent, detergent washes, coolant and printing ink, as well as dark, sticky or viscous fluids. The level monitoring is conducted from outside the sealed container, making the CAP-100 especially useful for vessels containing biohazardous liquids.

Gem's CAP-100 Series senses level within non-metallic reservoirs or bottles with wall thicknesses to 0.39" (10mm) thick without being attached the bottle. The sensor supports aqueous or non-aqueous liquid detection, with a choice of Wet- or Dry-Sink switch actuation. In addition to liquid level measurement, the CAP-100 can also be used to detect the presence of solids, such as paper or pulp.

CAP-100 sensors, featuring IP67 protection, measure just 2/25" × 1/18" (57mm × 30mm). They incorporate LED signal and power indicators with an integrated potentiometer allows sensitivity field adjustments. Gems CAP-100 sensors are CE-approved.

Kevin Castonguay, Product Marketing Manager for Gems Sensors & Controls, says: "The CAP-100 sensor is a rugged and versatile sensor suitable for a wide variety of industries, including oil and gas, food and beverage and waste water processing. Backed with Gems' engineering know-how it can be integrated into most modern process environments."

The CAP-100 can be delivered with factory pre-set sensitivity, enabling quick installation for OEM orders. If the walls of the container are thicker than 16mm then Gems also produces the CAP-200 threaded liquid level sensor, which can be mounted in holes drilled into the side of the container.
