SATO provides printers for GS1 Germany's new knowledge centre

SATO is providing its innovative CL4NX and CT4i printer series to GS1 Germany's new knowledge centre in Cologne. The centre, which opened on 1 July 2014, features live demonstrations of equipment, enabling visitors to learn about practical uses for the printers, particularly in the industrial and health care sectors.

Mitsubishi Electric PLC controls flagship water treatment works

The Dee Valley Water (DVW) project to build a new water treatment works at its flagship site, Llwyn Onn in North Wales, has now been completed. The £17M project was officially opened in March 2014 by the Minister for Natural Resources and Food, Alun Davies and is controlled by a Mitsubishi Electric system redundant, Q series modular PLC. The new works has been operational since August 2013.

BOGE further enhances efficiency for Black Sheep Brewery

BOGE has further refined service for the Black Sheep Brewery, where its screw compressor system applied 4 years ago is still delivering faster production and greater reliability. More recently, a BOGE Air Leak Detection Survey, carried out across the site in April 2014, has recorded a series of air leaks that are being addressed to increase efficiency yet further.

Aseptic drives keep food production areas clean and efficient

Food manufacturers need to ensure that the cleanliness of their production lines is maintained to the highest standard to avoid contamination of product. When a European fruit processor needed to improve its glass jar filling line it was keen to specify equipment which would meet its strict hygiene standards but would also offer improved energy efficiency. Fortunately Bauer Gear Motor was able to offer IE3 aseptic drives which met all of the client's requirements.

Atlas Copco's VSD technology consumes 25 per cent less power

At Brucha's 80,000-square-meter plant in Michelhausen in Lower Austria, four Atlas Copco GA oil-injected screw compressors with variable speed drive technology are using 25 per cent less power to supply the company's four production halls with the required volume of compressed air to meet their production needs.

WEG and KSB supply motors and pumps to Water-link project

The Water-link project in Belgium, delivers nearly 190 million m3 of water to over 700,000 customers annually. As part of the project, a new drinking water pipeline has been laid to water company TMVW in Buggenhout, Belgium. Critical to the pipeline are six high-efficiency WEG W22 motors which have been integrated into pumps supplied by KSB.

Integrated welding cell from ABB cuts production time

An ABB robotic welding cell is enabling agricultural machinery manufacturer Shelbourne Reynolds to reduce production times for its range of articulated hedge-cutting tractor attachments. Handling the several hundred welds entailed in the production of the attachments, the cell has so far cut welding process times by 66 per cent compared with the company's previous manufacturing process.

Investment in new conveyor chain improves production in bakeries

Bread production is very competitive in terms of production costs. Highly automated processes are used to reduce overall operating costs and maintenance costs are kept to tight budgets. The failure of a conveyor chain in the last part of the production process can have very significant knock-on effects for overall productivity and efficiency. One group of bakeries has engaged Tsubaki to provide a more reliable conveyor chain to help reduce costs associated with lost production and maintenance.
