Felten Group to supply Pilot MES system globally to Symrise

UK company Products4Automation (P4A) could benefit from a worldwide framework agreement between Symrise and the Felten Group for the introduction of Felten Pilot MES systems. Symrise is among the four largest providers of fragrance and flavouring substances, and base and active cosmetic ingredients worldwide, and is active in more than 35 countries. Under the framework agreement Felten will provide its Pilot MES system to Symrise plants globally, including those in Great Britain, where Felten is seeking to conclude an agreement with P4A to act as the company's Pilot distributor.

Harting is launching new hoods and housings for its Han-INOX stainless steel industrial connectors. Designed for use in harsh environments in process industries such as food and drink manufacture, as well as for outdoor use, the Han-INOX range now offers enhanced application flexibility with the availability of new angled hoods, bulkhead mount housings and surface-mount housings in the Han 3 A size.

IP65 inverter drives now available in power ratings up to 22kW

Lenze is extending its range of SMV IP65 frequency inverters with four new powers up to 22kW. Dimensions and costs have been kept low by the use of a cooling fan that maintains the high ingress protection level. This means that no more panel space is needed - which is very useful when upgrading existing machinery - and reduces costs on new machine designs. The SMV has found wide acceptance in food production, bakery mixers, conveyors, pumps and vacuum compressors.

SteelFace inductive sensors resist physical and chemical attack

Balluff SteelFace inductive proximity sensors are designed and built to survive longer in the abusive applications. Machined from a single piece of stainless steel, the sensor's housing has an integral 1mm-thick steel face that is resistant to impacts, chemicals, cutting fluids and abrasion.

Locking bush positions with torque limiting

Locking bushes from ETP have replaced mechanical clamping elements in a critical application on PET blow moulding machines. Connecting the lever arms that open and close the moulds, the ETP-Express bushes allow slip on the shaft of there is a stuck perform or bottle. This avoids damage to the machine and reduces downtime. Resetting is a quick and simple process compared to the old solution of a mechanical clamping bush which had seven screws to be torque tightened in sequence.

Turn fans down to reduce emissions

If just half of Britain's electric motors were reduced in speed by 10%, it would have the net effect of mitigating for the carbon emissions of 9.8 million cars every year. While this fact might not enthuse Jeremy Clarkson, it has a far more serious message and that is that governments subscribing to the Kyoto Protocol, and its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, continue to ignore the low hanging fruit that electric motor control presents.

High efficiency motors for bio-ethanol plant

The first W22 high efficiency motors supplied by WEG in Europe - three 200kW machines - are (appropriately) engaged in a 'green' process for the production of sustainable bio-fuels. The 4-pole 315L frame W22 motors have been supplied to BioWanze in Belgium where they are used with inverters in a mill that processes wheat and beet syrup to produce bio-ethanol. With this innovative system BioWanze intends eventually to provide half the amount of the bio-fuel consumed in Belgium.
