Inherently safe fibre optic emergency stop and U-beam sensors

Inherently safe fibre optic emergency stop and U-beam sensors

Micronor is introducing two new inherently safe fibre optic signalling products for the industrial automation, robotic and medical markets. The MR380 series fibre optic emergency stop offers E-stop functional safety compliance with SIL1 rating. The MR382 series fibre optic U-beam sensor is a general-purpose photo interruption/slot sensor. The two products each consist of a passive optical sensor that connects to a DIN rail-mounting controller module via an industry-standard OM1 duplex 62.5/125 multimode fibre optic link. The products can operate over distances up to 2500m (8200 feet).

WaveHandling modular conveyor and sorter for delicate objects

WaveHandling modular conveyor and sorter for delicate objects

Festo has developed the WaveHandling pneumatic conveyor system for transporting and simultaneously sorting delicate objects. Steve Sands, the Product Manager at Festo, says: "Delicate FMCG products, like fruit and vegetables, require particular care in their handling and transportation if they are to make a timely arrival to market with minimum damage losses. Their limited shelf-life means that time is of the essence. In such cases, it is believed that industry can learn a lot from natural principles, and wave technology is one such principle. The new WaveHandler pneumatic conveyor concept could help the food and packaging industry make huge cost savings."

Festo's MPA-C valve terminal meets IP69K and CRC4 requirements

Festo's MPA-C valve terminal meets IP69K and CRC4 requirements

Festo is launching the MPA-C valve terminal as the latest addition to its 'Clean Design' portfolio, with the company claiming that this product sets a new industry standard by meeting the requirements for protection class IP69K and CRC4 (Corrosion Resistance Class 4). Developed in conjunction with Tetra Pak, the MPA-C boasts many innovative valve functions and the modular sub-base design facilitates flexibility to easily expand to a maximum of 32 valves or solenoid coils. According to Festo, in many cases mounting the IP69K MPA-C valve terminal directly on the machine will be more cost-effective than installing lower-specification valve terminals in an IP69K control cabinet, so the new product has the potential to save money for machine builders and system integrators.
