Magnetostrictive sensors with strong resilience to corrosion

MTS Sensors is increasing the scope of its GB-Series of highly accurate, programmable magnetostriction-based linear position sensors so that further applications can be addressed. For these additions to the GB-Series (referred to as the GB-N family), the sensor rod (along with fitting flange) and the housing for the supporting electronics have a very robust 1.4404 Stainless Steel (AISI 316L) construction, allowing their deployment in environments where there are corrosive media present.

WEG launches VSD to strengthen automation expertise at SPS 2015

WEG is to launch a new variable speed drive (VSD) to boost energy efficiency across a broad range of applications at this year's SPS IPC Drives (Nuremberg, 24-26 November, Stand 250, Hall 3). Designed to meet the European market's growing demand for inverters - in line with the requirements of the latest ErP Directive on energy efficiency - the new CFW300 variable speed drive (VSD) offers an easy-to-use and cost-effective option for applications requiring low motor power. As such, it is a good fit for machinery such as small centrifugal pumps, mixers, extruders and fans.

Asco Numatics offering for complex valve island applications

Cabinet-mounted valve islands now offer simplified installation and maintenance requirements as part of customised offerings for a range of industries. Emerson have unveiled a panel mount adaptor plate for the ASCO Numatics 501 Series of pneumatic valve islands, enabling the valve island to be directly mounted to the cabinet. The 501 Series valve provides the flow of a 15mm to 20mm valve in a compact 11mm size, addressing customer needs for space savings and simplified construction and assembly.

Expanded range of guard interlocks offers greater versatility

For several years Pilz offered available 500N and 1000N guard locks (energise-to-lock) with built-in non-contact RFID interlocking for prevention of unexpected start up to PL e and SIL 3. Locking of the associated closed movable guard is done electromagnetically and the interlocking function is provided by detecting the guard position. In addition, the locking function includes monitoring of the electromagnetic force.
